38 Tears Artwork used in Convention Logo

The Rev. Robert Two Bulls, Missioner for Indian Work and Multicultural Ministry, designed the central artwork for this year’s Annual Convention logo.

The work, titled “The 38 Tears of Bishop Whipple,” commemorates the hanging of 38 Dakota Warriors on December 26, 1862 in Mankato, Minnesota.

Describing the painting, Rev. Two Bulls says, “The miniature nooses on the painting are real and are adhered to the canvas. The nooses form drops and were highlighted by adding a bit light blue to enhance the notion of tears.
