2015 Freedom Ride Pilgrimage Applications Now Being Accepted

The Episcopal Church in Minnesota will be sending a delegation of young people between the ages of 15 to 22 to the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina’s 2015 Freedom Ride pilgrimage, July 12-18 at Haw River State Park. The Freedom Ride will focus on the historical truths of slavery and the Civil Rights movement and the current realities of migrant farm workers in the United States. This event is part of a 3-year initiative that will also include a 2016 Pilgrimage of Reconciliation in South Africa, and a 2017 Disciples of Change Institute led by the Rev. Eric law. Participation in the Freedom Ride is limited to 7 young people from across the Episcopal Church in Minnesota and is open by application only. Cost is anticipated to be $1,500, including travel, lodging and meals. The pilgrimage will be led by Rob Johnson, Religion teacher at Breck School, and Mindy Boynton, Director of Children and Youth Ministry at Ascension Episcopal Church in Stillwater.
