ECMN Faith Communities Commit to Fighting Hunger

October 1, 2014

Suzanne Shatila, Director of Minnesota FoodShare, led one of several breakout sessions at ECMN Convention 2014, which took place at the Sanford Center in Bemidji September 26-27. The session she led was entitled “Fighting Hunger in Your Community” and in that session she asked the participants to commit to one thing they could do with their congregation to fight hunger in their communities. She then asked them to write down what they will do on large sheets of paper and also asked them to write down their church’s name and city. The pieces of paper were grouped by mission areas in the state.

Brian Rusche will be helping to co-lead the meetings as well as a staff member from Urban Immersion Service Retreats. Suzanne told everyone that attended her session that they would waive the $10 registration fee for anyone interested in attending one of the regional meetings so that they could learn more about poverty and food insecurity. The next meeting is scheduled in Elk River for Oct 10. Lunch will be provided.
