School for Formation: Speaking Our Faith

October 6, 2018 ECMN Retreat Center in Faribault, Online

“But who do you say that I am?”

How do we talk about our most deeply held beliefs?
How do people of faith wrestle with tradition in a time when institutions and authority are held in suspicion?
How can we who value multiple viewpoints and honor diverse perspectives still make claims about God’s Good News?

These questions are crucial to leaders in our faith community, both lay and ordained. In moments of pastoral care, in preaching, in our neighborhoods, and in response to current events, being able to speak Good News that is authentic to your own experience and in conversation with the best of Christian tradition is powerful, and critical to following Jesus.

On October 6, join Mark McInroy and Nate Van Yperen to dive into these questions in conversation with ancient and contemporary Christian guides. You’ll get to workshop your own responses, and to investigate the sources that drive your understanding of what it means to be a practitioner of the way of Jesus today.

This workshop is especially for those interested in beginning to explore evangelism and is a key part of the portfolio process for those in formation for Holy Orders.
