Mustard Seed Retreat
Mustard Seed Retreat
Eighteen innovative, curious, and faithful souls, lay and ordained, gathered at St. Edward’s, Wayzata on Saturday June 28 for a Mustard Seed Learning Community retreat. Mustard Seed is a supported process for individuals and teams to learn how to listen to, love, form community, and to share Jesus with those who are spiritually curious. The church was filled with laughter, new ideas, stories, and learnings as members from fifteen Minnesota Episcopal faith communities discussed how they are joining up with -- or hope to join up with -- neighbors who don’t know Jesus and/or don’t go to church.
The diversity of ages (from 16 to 70), experiences, and ways of approaching faith and community led to rich and powerful discussions about creating spaces where friends, neighbors, and people who share similar interests (pets, sports, music, movies) could be listened to and loved. We also discussed the importance of sharing our faith in accessible ways with those who are spiritually curious.
If you are a follower of the way of Jesus and have a desire to learn how to share your faith with friends and neighbors who are spiritually curious, Mustard Seed is for you! We meet every four months in person, and between meetings share stories, ideas, resources, and photos in the Mustard Seed subgroup, part of the ECMN group on Faith+Lead. All team members are accompanied by a trained coach. For more information contact Blair Pogue at blair.p@episcopalmn.org.
