Mustard Seed is a learning community for Episcopalians who want to learn how to join up with neighbors who don't go to church and are spiritually curious, don't know much or anything about Jesus and the Christian faith, and/or have experienced church harm and are nervous about joining a traditional faith community.

Thirteen lay and ordained Episcopalians met Saturday, October 18 at Christ Church, Woodbury for the third gathering of the Mustard Seed Learning Community. We experienced and debriefed a spiritual practice participants could use in their New Christian Communities (NCC's), and then broke into small groups to share new things leaders tried, what worked and what didn't, and any green shoots they saw emerging.

We watched a new ten-minute video from Faith  Lead featuring five Wisconsin Lutheran Fresh Expressions, which was incredibly moving and full of wisdom: "lead with love", "don't build the table beforehand, build it with the people who come", and "we didn't know what we were doing" (and learned to let the Holy Spirit lead us). At the end the group brainstormed what they want to do at our next meeting - practice spiritual listening, think about how we talk about God, have some quiet time for reflection, and do a Soulspace refresher.
