Spring Update - Rainbow Bridge and Pet Memorial Garden
Spring Update
The snow is melting, the ground is waking up, and St. Edward's is absolutely chomping at the bit to bring the Rainbow Bridge and Pet Memorial Garden to life this spring. A lot has been happening behind the scenes over the winter, and we couldn't be more excited to share what's coming.
Scouts, Signs and a Path Forward
We are thrilled to announce that an Eagle Scout has chosen our garden as his Eagle Project and he's taking on the full build-out of the path, signage, and decorations that will make this space truly welcoming for every family who comes to honor their beloved pet. St. Edward's has a long and proud history with Eagle Scouts, who have completed several projects on our property over the years, and we are excited to be reviving that wonderful tradition.
A Little Color, A Lot of Heart
Later this spring, Erin Bloxham, wife of our Rector, Aron Kramer, will put her brush to the bridge and begin painting the floor of the Rainbow Bridge with color. She won't be going it alone; members of the congregation and the wider community will join her to pick up a brush and add their own touch. It will be a labor of love, in every sense.
Honoring Gilbert
This winter we reached out to Helping Hands, the rescue organization where Gilbert, the beloved dog of Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband Scott, found his forever family. Gilbert was tragically shot on that horrific evening that shook so many of us. In conversations with the Helping Hands and the Hortmans, we are deeply honored to offer the first collar placement on the Rainbow Bridge in Gilbert's memory. We may even be graced with a visit from some of the pups from Gilbert's last litter.
Mark Your Calendars: October 3rd!
This year, the Feast of St. Francis falls on Sunday, October 4th, so we'll be celebrating a day early, on Saturday, October 3rd, from 2:00–4:00 pm. We're planning special events, meaningful moments, and plenty of opportunities to celebrate the community and all the animals who have blessed our lives. More details to come but go ahead and save the date!
