Welcome your new vestry members with ECF’s powerful and practical Vestry Resource Guide (VRG)! The VRG helps vestry members and clergy collaborate to become an effective, transformational leadership team. This publication has been prayerfully prepared both for new leaders and seasoned members. With information and recommendations for congregations of all shapes and sizes, this is an essential tool to help vestries focus on what God is calling them to do in the world. Topics include the ministry of the vestry, leading a community of faith, stewardship, and navigating transitions in clergy leadership. The VRG offers an approach for leaders of congregations and faith communities to consider and tailor to meet their own needs. 

In addition to distributing the VRG, you are strongly encouraged to have a Vestry Retreat shortly after a new Vestry has been elected. Give yourselves the gift of a whole day, begin by centering in Scripture and spiritual practices and have a lovely lunch together. It is a great idea to meet somewhere other than the church – even one of your neighboring churches. Get an outside facilitator so everyone can truly participate.
