Renewing Clergy Identity
This will be the 2nd in-person retreat and final session of a year-long learning community around renewing clergy identity and collaborative leadership. This in-person session will include lay leaders from the faith communities of the clergy that have been part of this learning community since the November retreat.
Led by facilitators the Rev. Dr. Dwight Zscheile (author, Episcopal priest, and professor of congregational mission and leadership at Luther Seminary) and the Rev. Clara King (priest in the Anglican Church of Canada, experienced trainer and consultant, and Ph.D. candidate), we will explore some of the deeper dynamics affecting priestly ministry today, renew our spiritual and theological grounding, and explore how to cultivate deeper collaboration with lay leaders.
As a participant, you'll have the chance to:
- Enter into a candid and creative space where we will hold each other's questions and dilemmas in a supportive environment
- Think theologically and spiritually about your own leadership, identity, and practice
- Explore expectations from yourself and others that help or hinder your leadership
- Consider sustainable ways of doing ministry that affirm the distinct callings of clergy while strengthening lay leadership
