Episcopalians in Minnesota Can Feed Hungry People!
Episcopalians from all over the state of Minnesota are gathering in Rochester in a little over a week for a time of worship, fellowship and business. We do so in the midst of a nation-wide crisis for those who receive SNAP benefits. Even if the federal government opens back up by the time that we meet, SNAP funds will take a few weeks to reach those who qualify for them to feed themselves and their families. Episcopalians do a lot of things well, and one of those things is - we know how to feed hungry people! All Convention attendees are invited to bring nonperishable food with them to Rochester next week. You can throw a can of tuna in your overnight bag, or bring a whole grocery bag full of canned vegetables, proteins like ham, chicken and tuna, fruits, beans, as well as pasta, pasta sauce, rice and dry beans. Food will be collected at St. Luke's at the evening gathering on Thursday, November 13, and at the Civic Center on Friday and Saturday, November 14 and 15. Please do not bring glass or expired items.
Food contributions will be brought to the Salvation Army in Rochester (www.helpingpeoplefeedpeople.org). In Rochester food pantries network with one another to make sure as many as possible are fed.
Questions? Email the Rev. Beth Royalty -rector@calvary-rochester.org. Thank you in advance for your wide generosity in meeting this difficult time for so many with God's love.
Parking
If you're staying at a hotel in Rochester, please find information about parking from that hotel. Many hotels are connected to the Skyway, which can be used to navigate to the Mayo Civic Center without needing to move your car.
If you need to park at the Civic Center, there is a parking ramp across the street, and parking is available for a fee. Please click here for more information and for other parking information and options.
*Please Note: Rochester is undergoing significant construction. While the Mayo Civic Center is on the edge of the downtown area, you may experience traffic, delays and detours on your way to the Civic Center. Please plan accordingly.
Finding the Convention Space
If you arrive via the skyway, you will find yourself in the midst of the Convention space right away! If you arrive via the main entrance, you will need to take the escalator or elevator to the second floor to find the Convention space.

Convention Theme
The Hope that is in Us (1 Peter 3:15)
This year’s convention theme, “The Hope that is in Us,” is based on 1 Peter 3:15. This letter was written to a Christian community facing a fearful, uncertain future in a world marked by division and political strife under the Roman Empire. The writer’s words, “Always be ready to make your defense to anyone who demands from you an account of the hope that is in you,” act as both a challenge and an encouragement to us in our own moment. In the face of every challenge, we are called to keep our eyes fixed on the horizon of hope we have in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and to bear witness to that hope in our lives.
The people of God have always found and sustained that hope through small communities of practice, witness, and resistance that keep our souls yoked to the power of the living God. During our time together, we will continue to explore what it means for us as a family of small communities of practice, witness, and resistance to continue to anchor in the hope that is in us.
On Saturday, we will welcome Bishop Betsey Monnot, the Bishop of Iowa, as our keynote speaker. Bishop Monnot will share how our neighbors are intentionally cultivating these small communities in their own context, and the way they are engaging in practice, witness, and resistance in this moment. She will then facilitate some open conversations about how we can continue to do this work in our own diocese.
