Convention Theme
This year’s diocesan convention will be framed by the words of Jeremiah 6:16.
16 This is what the Lord says:
“Stand at the crossroads and look;
ask for the ancient paths,
ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
and you will find rest for your souls.
But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’
The prophet’s first listeners were facing a choice in the aftermath of trauma, crisis, and profound disruption. Walk in the way of the world around you, walk in the way of despair and resignation, or walk in the way of God’s love, the way of God’s promise?
We, like our ancient ancestors, also stand at a crossroads today, as individual churches, as a diocese, as a wider Episcopal Church, and as a society. These past years have brought us plenty of disruption and crisis. The world around us has been upended by pandemic, political polarization, and existential questions about who we will be as a society. In the church, we are in the midst of a profound reshaping as congregations are challenged to find new ways to sustain their properties, face questions about their futures, and respond to the deep pain that exists in the world around us. So much of what has been is passing away, and the full shape of what we will be has not yet emerged.
The time has come for us to heed again Jeremiah’s invitation to stand, to look, and to ask after the way God would have us go. The good news in the midst of all that is hard is that we don’t have to make up something new. We are promised ancient paths and good ways to walk in. We are promised rest - not just rest for our bodies, but rest for our souls. These are ancient paths that still yield abundant life. Our work is to ask how we will walk that ancient path today.
At this year’s convention, you’ll hear stories from leaders in congregations who are finding these ancient ways and walking in them.
On Saturday, the bishop will lead us in a period of conversation as a diocesan family, as we look more closely and deeply at where we are and the current state of the diocese, where we are headed and how we plan to get there, why it matters, and what each of our parts might be.

Deadline to receive Lay Delegate Certification: August 23, 2026
Although the deadline for certifying lay delegates has passed, please submit lay delegate certifications. (There is no need to certify clergy; all canonically-resident clergy are automatically certified.) Click here to find the form to certify lay delegates.

We are excited to welcome a limited number of organizations to ECMN’s convention in 2026 on Friday and Saturday, October 23 & 24. There is a cost to having a table, but those costs are to off-set the cost of accessing the food and beverages available at convention.

Canonical Amendments
Deadline to receive Canonical Amendments has passed
Canon 910.1: Time for Consideration. Every proposal to amend these Canons must be served upon delegates at least thirty (30) days before the Convention at which the amendment will be considered.
Canon 910.2: Voting, and Approval by Bishop. An amendment must be approved during the same Convention by a majority vote in each order, voting separately, and also agreed-to by the Bishop.
Resolutions
Deadline to receive Resolutions has passed
Resolutions call on the Episcopal Church in Minnesota to take specific action; commend or commemorate a person, event, or other matter; take up legislative action on a particular topic but do not have specific steps to do this; or take a stance on a particular issue. A diocese can also adopt a resolution asking the General Convention, the governing body of The Episcopal Church, to take action, study a matter, or do any of the other things listed in this paragraph.
