Innovation Summit
On Saturday, November 16 from 10 am to 2:30 pm at St. Mark’s Cathedral in
Minneapolis, Minnesota Episcopalians will have the opportunity to hear more about the
green shoots springing up all over our diocese! Lay and ordained leaders will be
presenting what they have learned from their engagement with the Faithful Innovation
process, New Christian Community trainings, Learning from London trips, and from
following the Holy Spirit’s leading into new ventures including a farm ministry, a
theologically-informed Braver Angels ministry to increase curiosity and decrease
unhelpful stereotyping in a polarized political environment, and a ministry with Ka Ren
Anglicans from Myanmar. At this gathering you will hear from Episcopal leaders who are
doing the following:
- Getting to know their church’s neighbors in creative and life-giving ways
- Listening to people who have had bad church experiences and helping them find
faith communities where their questions and concerns are taken seriously and
they can reconnect with Jesus
- Starting a spiritual autobiography writing group
- Loving and feeding neighbors who were struggling while paying for their laundry
in a laundry mat
- Offering music and friendship to neighbors receiving meals from a food truck
church
- Starting a “Messy Church” for children and their parents
- And so much more . . . !
The day will include spiritual practices you can use with your faith community, lots of
great ideas, the chance to interact with presenters and hear their learnings from what
worked as well as what didn’t, and encouragement for your faith community’s next
faithful step! If you would like snacks, lunch, and handouts please rsvp to
blair.p@episcopalmn.org by Monday, October 21.
