Discipleship is the core of the Christian experience. As Episcopalians, we take seriously the call to make disciples who are rooted in Jesus, and we are commissioned as partners with Christ in this work.
Living out our baptismal vows, we promise to "help [young people] grow into the full stature of Christ." Confirmation is historically the transition to adult membership in our communities of faith.
The Episcopal Church in Minnesota is offering a simple format for Christian Education for Confirmation for parishes of all sizes. This four-part curriculum will bring together young people from across the diocese for four Zoom meetings, which will each focus on four different elements of Christian formation necessary to shaping young people into full members of our faith communities. The purpose of this curriculum is to offer a simple option for Confirmation curriculum and to strengthen existing relationships and build new ones among young people across ECMN.
Starting in the Winter of 2025, students grade 9+ are invited to join together via Zoom to explore four sessions, Before Confirmation, (B4), instructing them on how to live lives for Jesus.
The classes will meet on:
Sunday, January 5
Sunday, February 2
Sunday, March 2
Sunday, April 6
Attendance at these classes will satisfy the requirements for participation in Confirmation on April 26 at St. Mark’s Cathedral.
Note: Congregations are still welcome to offer the Rite of Confirmation during Bishop Loya’s visitations.
If you’re satisfied with what your own parish is offering for Confirmation, students are not required to participate. But, if you as a priest, deacon, or Youth worker are looking for a resource, please give this one a shot!
Confirmation Sponsors/Mentors/Presenters: Candidates for Confirmation are welcome to have a confirmed adult from their congregations with them on this journey to help contextualize their learnings and root them back into their sending community of faith. Those adults are welcome to be present in this class, and are invited to indicate so on their registration by marking "Adult Companion" in the drop-down field.
