Nativity Episcopal Lent Retreat
From the earliest days of Christianity, traditions have arisen for observing Lent, our annual retreat. How do prayer, fasting, and almsgiving speak to Christians in 2020? We will spend some time looking at history, our own experiences, and scripture. Another theme will be stories of forgiveness. Our retreat day will take place at Nativity Episcopal Church in Burnsville and will include time for group or individual prayer, silence, small group sharing, communing with nature, poetry, and input from Michael Summerfield. Join us on Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch is included. There will be a free-will offering. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Presenter: Michael Summerfield is a member of Nativity Episcopal Church. He spent half of his career in active ministry in the Roman Catholic Church and became an Episcopalian in 2003. He earned an M.A. in Religious Studies at Gonzaga University, an M.Div at the Saint Paul Seminary, and a certificate in Biblical Spirituality at Catholic Theological Union. Now retired, Michael enjoys teaching, writing, preaching, and offering retreats.
